Cedar Roots Housing Cooperative is a 42 unit townhouse development now under construction with occupancy being phased in starting in the summer of 2010. This project is sponsored by the Northern Alberta Cooperative Housing Association (NACHA). NACHA's objectives for this affordable housing cooperative are to:
- Create an affordable continuing housing cooperative project that will house households with a mix of incomes, household confirgurations, ethnic backgrounds, skills, and experience
- Develop the project in a manner that will allow all households to participate in the governance and manangement of their community
- Ensure that the housing and community created is affordable both initially and in the long term
- Ensure that the housing and community created is sustainable in the long term from the environmental, social and economic perspective
